Connected apps

Connected apps are AI apps, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code, that you have allowed to work in your Kiaro workspace. You manage them in Settings > Connected apps.
Connect an AI app
- Open Settings > Connected apps and find Connect an AI app.
- Copy the Server URL.
- In your AI app, add Kiaro with this URL. In Cursor or VS Code, click Add to Cursor or Add to VS Code instead. Setup guides under the buttons link to the steps for Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code.
- The app sends you to Kiaro to sign in. Kiaro shows the app’s name, your workspace and what the app is asking for.
- If the app asks to make changes, choose whether to Allow changes, then click Allow.
An app that Kiaro can verify shows its web address, for example “Verified domain: claude.ai”. Any other app is marked as unverified, because an app can give itself any name. Only connect an unverified app if you started the connection yourself.
What you see for each connection
Each connection shows the app, then:
- Access: “Read and change”, or “Read only” if you did not allow changes
- Connected: the day you allowed it
- Last used: when the app last reached Kiaro with this connection, such as “today”, “3 days ago”, a date, or “never”. It is refreshed at most every five minutes.
The app is named with its verified web address, for example “Claude (claude.ai)”. An app without one is shown as “Unverified app:” followed by the name it gave itself.
Disconnect an app
Click Disconnect next to a connection and confirm. Within a few seconds the app can no longer read or change anything in your workspace. Its requests that were waiting for your approval are cancelled. You can connect the app again later.
Waiting for your approval
Some actions, such as sending an invoice, always wait for your approval in Kiaro. Requests that are still waiting are listed on this page, with the app that asked, and under Approvals in the sidebar. See Approvals.
Allow AI apps for the workspace
Owners and admins see an Allow AI apps (MCP) switch at the top of the page. It is on unless someone turns it off.
When it is off:
- No one in the workspace can use or connect an AI app.
- Requests waiting for approval can’t be approved or rejected. They are kept, and they still expire 24 hours after the app asked.
- Connections are kept. They work again as soon as the switch is turned back on.
Turning it off asks you to confirm first. Members can’t change the switch; while it is off, they see a note asking them to contact an owner or admin.
Members’ connections
- Team
In a workspace with members, owners and admins also see Members’ connections: every app each member has connected, with the member’s name. Click Disconnect next to one to disconnect it for that member. Their requests from that app that were waiting for approval are cancelled.
Members see only their own connections.
Removing a member from the workspace disconnects all of their apps and cancels their requests waiting for approval. If they join again later, they connect their apps again.
What is recorded
Each disconnect, and each time the switch is turned on or off, appears in the Recent activity on the profile of the person who did it, with the app’s name. Changes an AI app makes to an invoice show which app made them in the invoice’s audit trail.
Kiaro also keeps a short record of each request an AI app makes to use a tool, without its contents, for 90 days. See Limits and privacy for what it holds and how fast apps can make requests.
What connected apps can never do
Connected apps can’t manage billing or your plan, delete your workspace, invite or remove members, change roles, change account security, set up or change Stripe or Xero (including payout details), refund payments, or disconnect apps and change the switch on this page.
