AI Command Bar
The AI Command Bar is the primary way to interact with Kiaro. Instead of clicking through menus and filling out forms, you type what you want in plain English and Kiaro handles the rest.
Getting started
When you log in, you land on the AI Home screen, a centered command input with smart suggestions tailored to your workspace. Type anything or click a suggestion to get started.
You can also press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) from any page to open the command bar.

Things Kiaro AI won’t do
A few guardrails are intentional — the AI refuses in these cases rather than silently doing the wrong thing:
- Edit or delete an invoiced time entry. Once a time entry has been billed on an invoice, it’s locked from AI edits. Reopen it from the time page first.
- Delete the only contact on a client. Every client must have at least one contact. Add a replacement before deleting.
- Modify data in another workspace. The AI only sees and writes your own workspace’s data. Even if you know an ID from a colleague’s tenant, the AI won’t touch it.
- Change a status to something the field doesn’t allow. Task statuses are
todo,in_progress,blocked,done. Project statuses areplanning,in_progress,on_hold,completed. The AI returns a clear error if you ask for an invalid value. - Work outside consulting workflows. Kiaro AI helps with clients, projects, tasks, time, invoicing, proposals, contracts, and the knowledge base. Ask it for a recipe or a coding question and it’ll politely decline.
How confirmation works
When the AI needs to create, update, or delete something, it shows you a preview of exactly what it plans to do. Each action appears as a card with the details. Nothing happens until you click Confirm & Execute.
Read-only queries (searching, viewing data, asking questions) execute immediately, no confirmation needed.
Smart suggestions
The AI Home screen shows contextual suggestions based on your actual workspace data. These aren’t generic, they’re specific to what’s happening right now:
- Overdue invoices that need follow-up
- Uninvoiced billable time ready to bill
- Stale clients you haven’t contacted recently
- Tasks due this week
- Projects approaching their budget limit
- Contracts about to expire
Click any suggestion to send the command directly to the AI.
Slash commands

Manual mode
The AI Command Bar doesn’t replace the traditional interface. Every feature, clients, projects, tasks, invoices, time tracking, is still accessible through the sidebar navigation. Use whichever approach you prefer, or mix both.
